Experimental Array Radar (EAR) Second-Phase Development Plan.

Abstract

RCRAFT DEFENSE SYSTEMS, SEARCH RADAR, RADAR TRACKING, DATA PROCESSINGSIGNAL PROCESSING, FREQUENCY AGILITY, *EXPERIMENTAL ARRAY RADARThe report describes a second-phase development plan for the US Army Missile Command's (MICOM's) Experimental Array Radar (EAR) program. The Phase I EAR system has been developed and implemented. The Phase II effort is to design more flexibility of operation into the system without changing some of the more expensive subsystem elements, for example, the transmitter and the antenna. Primary emphasis in the Phase II system will be on providing the system with a long pulse capability by implementing pulse compression, additional computer control capability, and frequency agility for flint reduction and by improving the receiver, digital signal processor, and display system. The analytical studies and the hardware experience leading to the Phase II system concept are summarized. (Author)
