Study of Flow Characteristics Behind Diffusers with Large Angles of Flare,

Abstract

The attempt to obtain the most uniform flow possible in wind tunnels dictates the use of diffusers at the entrance to the precombustion chamber. Comparatively long diffusers with small angles of flare, 6-8 deg, are usually used. The use of diffusers with large angle of flare enables one to considerably reduce the length of the inlet contour of the tunnel, while the uniformity of the flow can be ensured by the same equalizing devices.
