Lesson from My Lai

Abstract

The publicity accruing to the trials and investigations associated with the My Lai Incident, which occurred in the Republic of Vietnam on 16 March 1968, raises the question: What has the Army learned from My Lai. The document considers: Training in the Geneva Conventions (GC) and Rules of Engagement (ROE); the impact on the Army's professional integrity; and public information considerations.
