Data Processing System for Standardization of Gamma and Neutron Calibrators,

Abstract

A data processing system was developed to process and analyze data taken in the field standardization of shore-based gamma and neutron calibrators. The gamma calibrator, the AN/UDM-1A, is used to calibrate several types of gamma radiation detection instruments (radiacs). The neutron calibrator, the MX-9335 (XWO-1)/UDM, is used to calibrate a neutron detecting radiac set, the AN/PDR-70. Two computer programs process data taken from sets of transfer standard instruments which are used to measure dose rate as a function of distance. One program is used to analyze the data, compute a linear regression line, and calculate several statistical parameters. In a second program, a series of tables are printed which list the distances at which specified dose rates are generated by the calibrator. The tables are dated and corrected for activity changes in the calibration sources. (Author)
