Transmission Fluctuations.

Abstract

The final report of three contracts, which extended over the twelve year period from 15 June 1960 to 30 June 1972, consists of a summary and selected publications. The initial and continuing objective of the work is the investigation of relationships between fluctuations of sound transmission and variations in significant properties of the medium. Measurements on a continuous basis over long time periods with fixed instrumentation are considered to be essential. By so doing, relationships between measured quantities may be investigated with the methods of time series analysis. Knowledge of such relationships has applications in communications and signal processing techniques, and in the estimation of sound transmission conditions from environmental observations. (Author)
