Automatic Target Classification: Initial Report.

Abstract

The report presents pertinent background information and suggests investigatory approaches and techniques in the areas of data analysis, feature extraction, and pattern recognition that will aid in achieving the classification program objectives. The major objective of the program is to classify single and multiple ground vehicles and aircraft, initially concentrating on, but not limitied to, acoustic data generated by the target(s). The key to solving the classification problem is the investigator's ability to determine those features or attributes associated with a target which will allow discrimination between different targets.
