Computer-Aided Mechanical Testing of Composites.

Abstract

The report describes the development of a testing system using small real-time computers for characterizing the mechanical properties of composites. Specifically, major system requirements for the deformation and strength properties of anisotropic composites are discussed. Motion pictures are used to view the fracture of the thin-walled graphite/epoxy composite to confirm the computer analysis. (Author)
