Materials and Design Considerations for the Attachment of Prostheses to the Musculo-Skeletal System.

Abstract

The National Conference, 'Materials and Design Considerations for the Attachment of Prostheses to the Musculo-Skeletal System', was held at Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina, on April 3-7, 1972. The symposium was sponsored by the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies, College of Engineering, Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina; Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina; Office of Naval Research, Washington, D. C.; and the National Science Foundation, Washington, D. C. Forty-five papers were presented at the symposium. Appendix I contains the complete technical program. Twenty-six of the papers will appear in a special issue of the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research. Papers to be published in the Journal are listed in Appendix II. Some highlights of the symposium are briefly summarized.
