The Effect of Wave Length on the Degradation of Certain Polymers.

Abstract

Since polymers which contain carbonyl groups may decompose under the influence of light either to give a free radical split (Norrish Type I) or a split to two complete molecules (Norrish Type II) and the former may lead to a long chain reaction, several types of carbonyl polymers have been studied: Polycaprolactone, Polyvinylacetate, Polyacrylic acid. The report summarizes the authors research on this topic.
