Ethylene Evolution: A Test for New Defoliants.

Abstract

A procedure for evaluating the effect of test compounds on ethylene evolution and defoliation with beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Red Kidney) is described. This procedure involves spraying candidate compounds onto the primary bean leaves, analyzing for ethylene evolution by gas chromatography, and determining the compound's effect on defoliation.
