Digital Address Thin Display Tube.

Abstract

IRCUITSFLAT PANEL DISPLAYSThe report describes the progress which occurred during the fourth quarter of a Research and Development contract to develop a 512 x 512 resolution-element display with a resoulution of 55 holes-per-inch. This digitally addressed thin display-tube is being developed to evaluate and demonstrate the feasibility of using this display concept to meet Army requirements for a computer-output display. During the fourth quarter the plate fabrication task proceeded with good progress, demonstrating that high-quality plates with 512 x 512 holes at 55 holes-per-inch can be made. Several plates and spacers were made. Some problems were encountered in the envelope fabrication, resulting in returning to the original approach of using two standard curved CRT faceplates as the enclosure with an internal flat phosphor-plate. Good progress was made in the electronics area, and most of the electronics fabrication is completed. (Author)
