Sponge Lead Electrodes for Plumic Acid Battery.

Abstract

The Russian invention presents a method of obtaining sponge lead for lead-acid storage battery electrodes by means of electrolysis out of alkaline solutions with subsequent oxidation. For the purpose of using lead wastes and improving production conditions, the solutions indicated are obtained through treatment of lead-containing wastes with a water solution containing an alkaline concentration of 150 to 250 g/l at a temperature of 75 to 80C in an alkaline solution-to-waste quantity relationship of 6 : 1, with subsequent cleaning of impurities out of the solutions and oxidation of the sponge lead obtained in moist, dust-free air.
