Application of Factor Analysis to the Study of the Functional Organization of Dynamic Characteristics of Cerebral Electrical Activity (Primenenie Faktornogo Analiza dlya Izucheniya Funktsionalnoi Organizatsii Dinamicheskikh Kharakteristik Bioelektricheskoi Aktivnosti Golovnogo Mozga),

Abstract

The characteristics and methods of factor analysis, as well as the algorithm and program of the principal components method for the 'Promin' digital computer system are described. The themetical possibility of applying factor analysis in neurophysiology is shown in: (a) an investigation of the structure of a single electrophysiological process on the basis of electrocorticographic dynamic spectra calculations, and (b) a comparison and classification of poststimulation histographs of the induced activity of projection cortical neurons in response to a conditioned stimulus.
