Special Devices in Primary Flight Training: Their Training and Selection Value. A Summary Report.

Abstract

The report presents the results of an experimental study to determine the value of synthetic flight trainers for Primary Training. Students were assigned to one of three experimental groups and a control group at random, with the assumption that the groups were equivalent. Those in the experimental groups received ten hours of synthetic training. The control group and an additional group with previous solo flight time received no synthetic training. The flight performance record of each student in primary training was evaluated to test the value of synthetic flight training.
