Linguistic Processing of Motion: A Survey.

Abstract

The concept of linguistic processing of motion is introduced in the report. It is defined as the structural analysis and synthesis of motions and their representations by a computer. The motions are regarded as being composed of simpler, eventually primitive, motions called terminals. The basic concepts of programming languages are extended into the domain of computer-oriented description of motions. The concepts of formal treatment of motions. In particular, the linguistic processing of motion is suggested as an extension of linguistic picture processing into the domain of time. The report consists of two parts. In the first the problem of linguistic processing of motion is defined and an overall approach for its solution is outlined. In the second, a survey of the relevant literature is given. (Author)
