Are Officer Technicians in the Army National Guard Necessary.

Abstract

The basic question is whether or not the Officer Technician in the Army National Guard is necessary. For the past twenty-five years, the Officer Technician Program has become so strong it is now in complete control of the Army National Guard. After examining available literature, it became necessary to secure additional information through the use of a questionnaire. The results show two major areas of potential trouble. First, a major resentment at grass roots level of the regular Guard officer corp against the technician officer corp power. Second, a major credibility gap between the office of the Adjutant General and the non-technician commander. It is suggested that the control of the Guard by it's own employees be changed.
