Stress Analysis of Thick-Wall Cylindrical Vessels Weakened by Flaws.

Abstract

The report concerns the stress analysis of a surface flaw embedded in the thickness direction of a plate or the wall of a pressure vessel. An approximate means of evaluating the stress-intensity factor for a semi-elliptical surface flaw was considered. The aim of these calculations is to assist laboratory measurements on the propagation of surface cracks under static and cyclic loadings. (Author)
