Snapping of a Long Curved Panel Induced by Creep,

Abstract

In the report, the problem of creep-induced buckling of an infinitely long curved sandwich panel under uniform pressure is discussed. It is assumed that the prebuckling deformation of the perfect panel is symmetric and that the temperature field is uniform. In the analysis, the determination of the critical snapping conditions and the determination of the critical time are discussed separately. The former reduces to an eigenvalue problem. The formulation of the matter is based upon the flow theory of creep while neglecting the elastic deformation and the higher order terms in bending moment. (Author)
