Abstract
The 1970 Russian book gives a classification of dyes; methods of synthesis are described along with the properties of the most representative dyes widely used in various industries. The relationship between dye structure, color, and physical and chemical properties is examined in detail. Brief information is given on the applications of dye industry, in particular for dyeing polymeric materials. A short chapter also deals with the chemistry of intermediate products used in dye production. (Modified author abstract)
