U.S. Marine Corps Officer Procurement for the 70's, Problems and Solutions

Abstract

The study identifies U.S. Marine Corps officer accession problems related to the all-volunteer service. The study covers procurement and accession problems specifically related to the four major accession programs: United States Naval Academy, Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, Platoon Leaders Class, and Officer Candidate Class. These programs represent 85-88% of the projected accession requirements for the 1970's. Data were gathered using a literature search and personal interviews with Marine Corps procurement personnel.
