The Effect of Exposure to Weather on Nylon Lifting Whips of the Multi-Leg Pole Pendant for VERTREP.

Abstract

The test program was undertaken as part of NAVSHIPS VERTREP Task 14395 VR-RDTE-2-N4 FY-70. It was designed to determine the effect of all elements of weather on the nylon rope parts of the Multi-Leg Pole Pendant for VERTREP. Since no single weather element can be isolated with available test equipment, and the material under test is considered impervious to most chemicals, to all except the extremes in temperatures, the elements in question are ultra-violet and infra-red light. The document sets forth methods, instructions, material, mechanical equipment, and documents necessary to conduct the test program; also the results of the tests, conclusions, and recommendations.
