High Precision Gear Inspection and a Computer Simulation of a Manufacturing-Inspection Process.

Abstract

The report discusses the general approach employed in high precision inspection of external spur gears, likely future trends, and suggests a new non-contact probe centered system be explored based on the experimental results of a prototype demonstration. A computer simulation of the manufacturing/inspection process for an external gear is described, and program listings are provided. A computer program to compute the involute profile is also described and listed. (Author) Portions of this document are not fully legible.
