A Study of the Reliable Generation of Zero Pi Pulses with a Mode Locked CO2 Laser.

Abstract

The report includes a brief summary of the theory of self-induced transparency and detailed information concerning the construction of a CO2 laser and the related equipment that was needed to mode lock the laser. Also, the theory and operation of two room-temperature infrared detectors is provided. The report is concluded with a discussion of the experimental procedures that were involved in the attempt to mode lock the laser and detect the mode locked pulses.
