Development of a Litter-Mounted Examination Lamp.

Abstract

The litter-mounted examination lamp was requested by the Military Airlift Command (MAC) to improve illumination for care of litter patients in multipurpose aeromedical airlift aircraft. Specifications were written which described a form of lamp which was portable, lightweight, easily attached to a litter, reliable, and rechargeable. Prototypes designed by a commercial source were evaluated and found unsatisfactory. An inhouse development was initiated at USAFSAM which produced a functionally satisfactory item during operational test and evaluation. The evaluation indicated the litter-mounted examination lamp was satisfactory and recommended that it be standardized for routine use in Air Force aeromedical evacuation missions. (Author)
