The Development and Fielding of a Major Computer System-Case Study of the Joint Uniform Military Pay System-Army (JUMPS-Army)

Abstract

The study addresses the systems aspects of the development and fielding of JUMPS-Army with emphasis on the systems planning, project control, and management techniques and tools used. JUMPS-Army was implemented world wide between July and December 1971. Enough technical material is included to illustrate the technique being discussed. The report presents the key management concepts from a lessons learned viewpoint. (Modified author abstract)
