Distribution of Cod in the Barents Sea in 1967 (Raspredelenie Treski b Barentsevom More y 1967 G),

Abstract

The distribution of cod in 1967 in the Barents Sea was revealed by tagged specimens in fish trawls. Capelin were the principal food of cod in February and March and were supplemented by herring and krill (euphausiids) in April and May. Calanus, shrimp, young cod and perch, ctenophores, and coal fish also were found in cod stomachs in different locations and months. Variations in numbers of cod and their fat content are related to regions, month, food, and cod lengths. Their migrations through the Barents Sea are traced. (Author)
