Flight Flutter Testing Method,

Abstract

The flight flutter testing technique developed by engineering flight test and applied on different Lockheed airplane models is presented. The technique allows the determination of the frequency and damping of the different aeroelastic modes of an airplane. Variable frequency excitation sweeping up and down through the resonance is applied. Based on theoretical studies of the sweep rate effect, working charts are presented and their application in the analysis is discussed.
