Fundamental Requirements of a Fusion Feasibility Experiment Based on Flux Compression by a Collapsing Liner.

Abstract

The criteria for fusion feasibility experiment based on the LINUS principle are derived. The dynamics of an infinitely long system with a perfectly conducting, incompressible liner are computed exactly, and the effects of liner resistivity, liner compressibility, and plasma end losses are treated as first-order corrections. The minimum energy requirement for such an experiment is derived. (Author)
