Investigation of Flux Pinning and Critical Current Densities in Type II Superconductors.

Abstract

Magnetization and magnetic torque measurements were performed on oriented single crystal specimens of Nb and Mo-Re alloys. The results were analyzed in terms of the flux pinning characteristics of these specimens. Similar measurements were made on Nb-Cu and (Nb-Ti)-Cu composite conductors and used to determine their critical current densities. The latter results compared quite favorably with direct transport current measurements. (Author)
