Implementation of a One-Way Ranging, Range-Range Navigation System.

Abstract

Computer simulation results comparing analog and digital phase estimation techniques for navigation applications were completed showing negligible difference for optimized estimator structures and identical SNR. An optimized, low cost, and highly stable digital mechanization is also described. The completion and experimental results of the phase-coherent frequency synthesizer using direct-digital methods is also reported on in this issue including complete schematic diagrams. Concluding description is presented on improvements to the digitally-tuned LF navigation receiver. Specifically described is the design of navigation receiver front-ends for minimum distortion with an extensive treatment of methodology and performance tradeoffs. (Author)
