Toward a General Science of Man-Systems - A Venture into Social Physics: Beginnings.
Abstract
An effort is made to provide a hard physical foundation for man-systems with basic construct of irreversible thermodynamics. This differs from and should be compared with the structural paradigms used in meticulous steady state cost accountings compartment analysis by complete sets of function curves, with time delays included, and complex network analysis by computer. The thermodynamic model of viable sociocultural systems is constrained by statistical mechanics and kinetics, so that it may only consider the sparse number of variables and relations permitted as summational invariants, such as mass, energy, momentum, number, and form invariances. In this phase, a foundation for discussing particular man-systems problems of the Army is prepared.
