The Unpredictable Disaster in a Metropolis: Public Response to the Los Angeles Earthquake of February, 1971.

Abstract

A combination of findings on post earthquake public behavior suggests that persons who are outside a certain perimeter following a disaster are given less assistance by disaster agencies and are not defined by others as 'victims' while often experiencing what they themselves consider to be severe emotional damage.
