Design and Certification Approach: Secure Communications Processor,

Abstract

AF-7210ESDTR-73-129(*data processing, protection), design, control systems, computer programming, multiple operationmanagement information systems, on line systems, *secure communication, *computer information security, *computer privacyThe need for secure computer systems designed to handle several levels of classified data in a multi-access environment has been established. The report asserts that the security controls for such secure systems must be designed into the computers themselves and discusses the problems of designing and certifying the controls and the computer system. The integrated design and certification approach being pursued in the layered design of a secure communications processor is outlined. Descriptive and analytic modeling efforts used to aid the design and certification are presented. (Author)
