Yes, Virginia. There is a Generation Gap: Are Senior Officers Able to Communicate with the Younger Generation.

Abstract

The question is whether there are differences between senior officers and the younger generation which impede understanding and communication. This is a current topic of interest, and reference to the subject was found in recent publications. There are significant problems between the generations which interfere with the ability of senior officers to motivate and lead. There are, however, alternatives available which can improve two-way understanding. A knowledge of recent behavioral science findings and an understanding of the aspirations of the young can breach the gap and assist in unleashing their potential. (Modified author abstract)
