Army ROTC: Neglected But Dependable.

Abstract

The origin and history of the Army Reserve Officers Training Program has been reviewed. The ROTC program has been a subject of some debate on the college campus for the past several years. This has required a review of the program and its objectives. This review shows that a realistic program and objectives for this vital type of citizen officer training program have been lacking since its inception. In spite of this neglect the campus programs have continued to provide high caliber, motivated, citizen officers for military leadership assignments. (Modified author abstract)
