US Military Programs in Latin America

Abstract

The essay presents an historical survey of US military programs in Latin America, both past and present. The essay then discusses the present US military aid system and deals with the writer's firm conviction that in the light of recent acts of terrorism, such as bank holdups, kidnappings and murders conducted by urban guerrillas, internal security must be the first order of business for the Americas. Finally, the writer makes his recommendations for the future.
