Industrial Preparedness.

Abstract

Industrial preparedness covers those aspects of logistics that relate to supplying the military hardware needed to meet force deployments in the event of an emergency or mobilization. The military hardware must be supplied at the time and place needed and hopefully with the minimum impact on the civilian sector of the economy. This essay discusses the need for uniform planning factors among the three services, the making available of worthwhile incentives to contractors so that they may participate in the industrial preparedness program in a more meaningful manner, and the case for a systematic program to upgrade our production facilities and skills to keep abreast of the manufacturing state of the art.
