Are Department of the Army Computers Taking the Personal Out of Personnel.

Abstract

The question is often asked whether or not the increased use of computers at the Department of the Army for personnel management is taking the personal out of personnel. This frequently heard complaint has been examined thoroughly and found to be based on misunderstanding and poor information. The results are overwhelmingly on the side of the computers. The Army should continue to capitalize on this comparatively new technique which actually adds a whole new dimension to the effort to humanize Army personnel management. Also, the Army should clear up the misunderstanding which exists concerning the computer's true role in order to insure support of future efforts in this area. (Modified author abstract)
