Building Citizens in Army Green.

Abstract

The study examines Army administrative discharge policies and procedures to determine impact on the Army and the national society, and on the role of the Army in development of better citizens for the nation. Five significant lessons were identified. Tasks for Army leaders include recognition and support of the Army's citizen-building role, and positive action to deal directly with problem soldiers and motivate them to productive service; revision of Army policy to require formal motivational training for administrative discharge candidates is suggested in support of these tasks.
