Reliability Study Circular Electrical Connectors.

Abstract

The major objectives of the study were to recommend guidelines for selection and application of circular electrical connectors and improved test methods. The study was restricted to connectors covered by specifications MIL-C-5015, 26500, 27599, 38999, 81511, and 83723. Conclusions reached are summarized as selection guidelines, improved test methods, and recommendations. Most highly recommended are design features which tend to prevent or reduce human abuse, and standardization of connector design and testing, so that cost, inventories, and difficulties in selection can be reduced and so that different connectors are more easily compared with one another. The preferred connector of the six is MIL-C-38999, based on the data available. (Modified author abstract)
