Job Satisfaction as a Factor in Junior Officer Recruitment and Retention.

Abstract

The problem areas studied are whether the US Army can attract and maintain sufficient numbers of qualified junior officers to fill all of its requirements, what measures are being taken to solve the problem, and what some other recommend measures might be. Based upon a literature search, the two most evident changes taking place in the Army today are an increase in pay and the granting of additional privileges. A review of job dissatisfaction and job satisfaction factors is presented along with suggestions of other changes to be made within the Army.
