Burma--The Next Target.

Abstract

Burma's strategic position is examined as are the advantages which would accrue to the People's Republic of China if the present neutralist government of Burma gave way to a pro-Chinese regime. The various ethnic groups in Burma and their influences on the military situation are related to Chinese efforts to disrupt the country and its now weakened economy. The United States can assist the Burmese government only through international auspices or by bringing the Chinese into an open and healthier relationship with the rest of the world. Data were gathered using a literature and newspaper search. (Author)
