Refinement of the Williams-Landel-Ferry Equation

Abstract

The authors propose in this Russian translation a refinement of the Williams-Landel-Ferry equation for the temperature dependence of the relaxation time during the rapid stage of physical relaxation of polymers above the glass- transition temperature T(c). In this equation they have considered the dependence of T(c) on the cooling rate; in place of coefficient a2, having the dimension of temperature and a function of the type of polymer, they have introduced a dimensionless, practically universal constant a(0) = (1 - a2/T(c) about 0.68.
