The Determination of a North-South Line from Observations of Polaris (North Star).

Abstract

The report provides the theoretical development for assigning the bearing of a reference line to true north using direct observations of Polaris. The solution of the astronomical triangle for the azimuth of Polaris is given. Computation is accomplished through one of two computer programs, and an error analysis is made. (Author)
