Venezuelan Investment Planning and Execution.

Abstract

The record of economic progress in a developing nation is largely the record of its investment planning and execution. The study describes the Venezuelan experience in investment planning and execution with special emphasis on the important role of the Venezuelan government in investment planning, CORDIPLAN--the central planning agency, Venezuela's investment priorities of import substitution, agriculture, and relief from dependence on oil. Partly as a result of her successful investment planning Venezuela has the second highest per capita income in Latin America. Despite this Venezuela has serious unemployment and income distribution problems. (Modified author abstract)
