An Evaluation of Mexico's One Party System and Its Relationship with a Historically Revolutionary Military.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to briefly analyze the relationship between the military element and the political element of a nation with a dominant one party political system. The hypothesis that one party political system must have the loyalty of the armed forces to maintain political stability will be evaluated. Using Mexico as an example of a nation with a one party political system, the paper reviews and analyses the involvement of the Mexican military in politics, the official party, the armed forces, subversion, and other factors of political behavior.
