Nation Building in the Republic of Guyana: An Application of the Pye Model for Political Development

Abstract

Dr. Lucian W. Pye developed a model for political development which he used to analyze the problems of nation building in free Asia. This model is examined to determine its usefulness in understanding the problems in nation building in other parts of the world. The model is applied to the experience of the Republic of Guyana. Dr. Pye's model is based on the crisis approach to political development.
