MFP (Magnetic Field Package): A Flexible System of Computer Programs for Theoretical Magnetic Field Calculations.

Abstract

The report contains a description of three separate computer routines which are used to calculate various parameters utilized in the analysis of data transmitted from probes flown on research rockets and satellites. The majority of the parameters calculated are associated with magnetic field. The program contains the INVAR, FIELDG, SHELLG/FELDG routines for the calculation of magnetic field parameters. The parameters calculated by these routines are B. L, magnetic field components, geomagnetic latitude and longitude, magnetic dip latitude, invariant latitude, magnetic inclination and declination, conjugate points, geomagnetic local time, sun/shadow indicator, and geopotential altitude.
