Wartime Public Media Censorship.

Abstract

In the conduct of foreign affairs and national defense freedom of the press conflicts with security requirements. There is a need for information security, especially in wartime, requiring prior national planning for voluntary or involuntary public media censorship. National strategy, and a supporting military program in this area, require analysis and review of present plans for national and field press censorship by the Office of Emergency Planning and the Department of Defense. Greater understanding and cooperation with the press is recommended. (Modified author abstract)
