Analysis of Shock Indicator Devices for Packaging Applications.

Abstract

The objectives of the study were to evaluate commercially available shock indicators to determine their accuracy, reliability, usage life, effective frequency range and response to vibration. Six types of shock indicators were evaluated and the results are presented in graphical and tabular form. Calibration curves were developed which express indicator response in terms of shock intensity and duration. The results of drop tests on completed packs monitored with the shock indicators are also presented. (Author)
